Developing a network that connects associations, research centers, universities, start-ups, companies, and institutions with the aim of facilitating the daily lives of people with disabilities, also bridging any gaps and obstacles thanks to technology.

This is the goal of Abilitando 2021, an event now in its fourth edition, dedicated to people with disabilities, which will open in Turin, on the next 8th of October, with the conference celebrating the 15 years of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), adopted on December 13, 2006 in New York by the United Nations General Assembly (booking available here).

Abilitando 2021 will therefore virtually launch a series of roundtable discussions and interviews, exclusively available online, created in collaboration with C&C.

Among other things, the purpose of the initiative is to present technological solutions provided by the world of research and by partners who, in service of people with disabilities, are able to facilitate their daily lives.

Research and technological development can be useful tools to promote full inclusion, full autonomy of individuals, and the exercise of their fundamental rights.

Addressing the topic, for C&C, during a webinar titled "Overcoming Learning Obstacles with iPad", scheduled for the next October 14th, at 3:30 PM, will be Lucia Iacopini, trainer at AID (Italian Dyslexia Association), philosophy and history teacher, and clinical pedagogue.

Professor Iacopini will illustrate how technology can be an effective daily aid in overcoming barriers posed by various forms of disabilities. Through theoretical interventions, supported by concrete stories experienced every day in our schools, the pedagogue and a group of qualified teachers will guide those who attend the event in discovering the apps and accessibility features that enable teachers, and others, to make the best use of the iPad to reach everyone. No one excluded.

"Given that certain legislative interventions are fundamental, what is needed for the full deployment of rights and for overcoming barriers, especially mental ones, is a profound cultural change that confronts everyday realities - comments the spokesman for the C&C Edu team, Joshua Miolli - In this context, it is undeniable that technology can contribute to rapidly changing the daily lives of people with disabilities, as it has already done in many cases, opening doors to the world of work, sports, and study. A different and conscious use of new technologies, but above all a different social approach, can contribute to guaranteeing new levels of ability".
